| Headway Illawarra is funded by Ageing, Disability and Home Care, NSW Human Services as well as through the South Eastern Sydney & Illawarra Area Health Service and their Brain Injury Unit at nearby Port Kembla Hospital. We provide a wide range of support and advocacy services which are specifically designed to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people living with an Acquired Brain Injury. Within our Community Access Program, we provide at home, in-community and general rehabilitation support as well as a number of group educational, development and recreational activities. 70% of these are externally based and the remainder are conducted at Headway’s modern premises which are located between the CBD and the University of Wollongong. Headway also conducts a Community Education Program in which participants visit schools, youth groups and other community organisations to raise awareness about the consequences of ABI and the critical importance of safety. |
